- The OAS -- What Is It?
- ----------------------
-
- The Online Atlanta Society
- Post Office Box 561
- Decatur, GA 30031-0561
-
- The OAS is for YOU, the modem user of the Atlanta metropolitan area!
-
- The OAS is an organization, founded in 1985, of sysops, modem users and
- others in Atlanta's online community, dedicated to mutual self-protection
- and the general furtherance of shareware, public domain software and BBS'ing
- as a hobby.
-
- The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month, at 7:30 p.m.
- Meetings are open to the public, and feature a variety of interesting
- computer and tele-communications related topics, as well as offering a prime
- opportunity to meet others involved in BBS's in Atlanta. We also have a
- variety of give-aways, raffles and other exciting special events.
-
- In the past, we have given away as much as $10,000.00 worth of software,
- hardware and services in a single year at OAS meetings. We also have other
- members-only meetings at other times during the month, to conduct club
- business. The logoff screen will always contain the exact date and time of
- the next meeting.
-
- The group also periodically publishes a newsletter, also called The OASis,
- that features news and information of vital interest to BBS users and
- operators. We also have several other publishing projects in the works.
-
- You can join OAS for $25.00 per year. This gets you a subscription to the
- newsletter, participation in giveaways and other special events (such as
- our annual picnic at which we gave away a couple of thousand dollars
- worth of prizes last year), and much more. You can join at any OAS
- meeting, or send a check (payable to OAS) along with your completed
- membership application to the mailing address listed on the application.
-
- Members of the OAS also have full access to all file directories here on
- the OASis BBS as well as a more generous daily time and byte limit.
-
- We hope to see you at the next OAS meeting!
